Global Settings
Global Settings control various aspects of the functionality of GS.

Settings
General
| Setting Name |
Description |
| Inactivity Timeout (Minutes) |
The number of minutes without activity before automatically logging out of GS. Set this to 0 to never automatically log users out of GS. |
| Cleanup Dev Data (Days) |
Any data submitted while in Developer Mode will be removed after this number of days. |
| Company Logo |
An image to display at the top of the site, to the right of the GS logo. |
| Grant Hertzler Systems remote access to my account |
Whether to allow Hertzler service employees to log in to this GS account. |
Real-Time Failures
| Setting Name |
Description |
| 4 of 5 Points Above Or Below 1 Sigma |
The number of points which must fall at least 1 standard deviation away from the mean on the same side before it is considered a failure. This corresponds to Test 2 of the Western Electric tests for unnaturalness. |
| 2 of 3 Points Above Or Below 2 Sigma |
The number of points which must fall at least 2 standard deviations away from the mean on the same side before it is considered a failure. This corresponds to Test 3 of the Western Electric tests for unnaturalness. |
| 7 Points Above Or Below Center |
The number of points which must fall on the same side of the mean in a row before it is considered a failure. This corresponds to Test 4 of the Western Electric tests for unnaturalness. |
| 15 Points Inside 1 Sigma |
The number of points which must fall within 1 standard deviation of the mean before it is considered a failure. This is Rule 7 of the Nelson rules of process control. |
| 14 Points Alternating Up and Down |
The number of points which alternate in direction to be considered a failure. The mean and standard deviation have no bearing on this rule. This is Rule 4 of the Nelson rules of process control. |
| 8 Points Outside of 1 Sigma |
The number of points outside of 1 standard deviation to be considered a failure. This is Rule 8 of the Nelson rules of process control. |
| Use Fixed or Dynamic Limits |
Whether to calculate the Control Limits dynamically, or to use the Fixed Control Limits set on the Characteristic. |
Statistics
For more information about how GS calculates statistics, see the statistics page.
| Setting Name |
Description |
| Standard Deviation Method |
Whether to use the factors or sample standard deviation method. |
| Z-Values Method |
Whether to use the Median or Probability method for calculating Z-Values. |
| Short Run Method |
Whether to use Range or Target/Nominal for calculating Short Run. |
| Minimum Impact for Insights |
How much variation or mean difference must be introduced by a single factor to be considered significant. |
| Significance Level for Insights |
The p-value threshold for reporting Insights. Decreasing this value will cause fewer Insights to be shown, but they are more likely to be significant. Increasing this value will cause more Insights to be shown, but they are less likely to be significant. |
Calendar
| Setting Name |
Description |
| Start of Day Offset (Minutes) |
How many minutes away from midnight GS should consider as the start of day. This can be a range from -720 (12 hours before midnight) to 719 (12 hours after midnight). This can be used if the work week does not start at midnight on the first day of the week. |
| First Day Of Week |
Which day GS should consider as the first day of a week. This changes how GS calculates dates when retrieving data using a relative date. |
For example:
- To start the work week on Sunday at 11:00 PM, set the First Day of Week to "Monday" and the Start of Day Offset (Minutes) to "-60".
- To start the work week on Sunday at 7:00 AM, set the First Day of Week to "Sunday" and the Start of Day Offset (Minutes) to "420".
Schedules
| Setting Name |
Description |
| Show Completed Schedules (Minutes) |
The number of minutes Accountability Records with the Complete status should continue to appear on the My Schedules page. |
| Inspection Schedule Grace Period (Minutes) |
The number of minutes after an Accountability Record is marked as Late before it is automatically marked as Incomplete and becomes unavailable for Users to run. |
