Tags

Tags are used to group similar Characteristics across different Parts. They are also used by the SPC Test to create no-code dynamic Inspections.

Tag

Settings

Field Description
Name Unique name of the Tag. Tag names are often set to match the names of Characteristics, but this is not necessary.

Using Tags: An Example

Suppose a facility manufactures bolts in several sizes, such as a 1" Bolt, 3" Bolt, and 5" Bolt. Each of these Parts has its own unique set of Characteristics, including Length and Width, with different specification limits. To collect data across these bolts regardless of size, follow these instructions:

  1. Add Tags to Characteristics
    • Edit the relevant Length and Width Characteristics and select Autofill to fill in the Tag based on the Characteristic's name.
  2. Use Tags in SPC Tests in Inspections
    • Create an Inspection.
    • Add a Part Test to the Sub-Inspection.
    • Add two SPC Tests to the Sub-Inspection.
    • When configuring the SPC Tests, set the Characteristic Match Method to Match based on Part and Tag. Select the Length Tag in one SPC Test and the Width tag in the other.
  3. Run the Inspection and change value of the Part Test to one of the Bolts. Observe that the SPC Tests update to the associated Length or Width Characteristic based on the Part.
