Creating a Weekly Shift Report
Instead of logging into GS to view a Report, you can configure GS to automatically email Reports on a recurring schedule.
In this guide, you will create and schedule a Report with summary statistics and charts from the previous week.
Prerequisites
This guide assumes that you have:
- At least two Parts.
- SPC data and DMS data entered for those Parts, with multiple values of at least one Traceability field (such as different shifts).
If you do not have these prerequisites, first complete the following guides:
Create the Report
- Navigate to the Report list.
- Press the Add button.

- Select the Settings action and name the report Weekly Shift Report.

- Click Confirm.
- Click Save.
Tip
Save your Report frequently by clicking Save or pressing Ctrl+S.
Create a Retrieval
Retrievals define the data displayed in a Report. Create a Retrieval for the past week:
- Click Add Retrieval.

- Name it Last Week.
- For the Date, select Relative, Weeks, and then 1 Week Ending Now.

- For the Parts, select all Parts you want to include in the Report. (In this guide, all Parts were selected.)
- Click Confirm.
You will then be prompted to set the Retrieval's Report Settings:
- In the SPC section:
- Set Include Dataset for Raw Data to No.
- In the Statistics dropdown, select Count Records and CPK.
- In the Statistics Split By dropdown, select Shift and Part.
- In the DMS section:
- In the Charts dropdown, select Pareto.
- Click Confirm.
Add a Header
Next, you will add a header with a title.
- Right-click on the Report canvas and select Add Header.

- Drag a Textbox control from the toolbox to the header.

- In the Value property in the property window, click the square Data Binding button, then select Expression....

- This opens the Expression Editor, where you can create dynamic content.
- In the Expression textbox, enter
Weekly Report - Week Ending {DateString()}. This inserts a dynamically-updating date into the title. - Click Save to return to the Report.

- Use the font controls in the top toolbar to change the Textbox's font and font size.
- Use the drag handles to resize the Textbox so the full title is visible and centered.
Add a Tablix for Statistics
Next, you will add a Tablix control to display summary statistics.
- Drag a Tablix control from the toolbox to the Report's body. This automatically opens the Tablix Wizard.
- From the left sidebar of the Tablix Wizard:
- Click OK to return to the Report.
- Add cell borders to the Tablix:
- Click on any cell in the Tablix, then press
Ctrl+Ato select all cells. - In the property window, under Background & Borders, change the Style to Solid.
- Click on any cell in the Tablix, then press
- Decrease the size of the CPK column by dragging the right side of the column header.
Warning
If your selected Traceability field has more than 4–5 distinct values, you may need to resize the Tablix to fit all columns on a single page.
Add a Chart Section
Next, you will add a Pareto chart to the Report to summarize Defect data.
- Click Add Section in the bottom footer.
- This creates a new Continuous Section of pages that will be displayed after the pages with the Header and Tablix.
- In the property window, under Margins, set the Style to Narrow.
- Drag an Image control from the toolbox to the Report's body.
- Resize it to span the full page width.
- In the property window, under Appearance, click the dropdown in the Image property:
View the Report
You are now ready to view the first revision of your Report.
- Select the Preview action (or press
Ctrl+Shift+V). - Use the buttons in the Viewer's toolbar to change the zoom, scroll behavior, currently-viewed page, and print the Report.

- Select the Close action (or press
Ctrl+Shift+B) to return to the Report Designer.
Schedule Email Delivery
To receive this report every Monday at 6:00 AM, set up a recurring Schedule:
- Select the Schedule action. This opens the Scheduling overlay.

- In the Frequency section:
- In the General section:
- Click Save.
Next Monday morning, you will receive the Report in your email.
